Hainle Vineyards
2002 Pinot Blanc
Silver Medal winner at the 2004 Tasters Guild International competition in Florida, U.S.A.
The Hainle Vineyards Pinot Blanc was made from lusciously ripe grapes grown in our Peachland vineyard, as well as two select Penticton and Westbank vineyards, picked at optimum maturity. The hot 2002 growing season has infused this wine with rich pear, peach and spice notes and big flavour concentration.
Natural winemaking practises, with gentle treatment, minimal fining and filtration, and very low use of sulphites add to the soft and full-bodied expression of this wine. It is fully fermented in stainless steel, finished completely dry, and received no oak treatment. Extended aging on the lees (yeast sediment) gives the wine added complexity. The aromas are classic soft fruit, with notes of nut and toast.
Fermentation and ageing in stainless steel, with extended lees contact, brings out a rich, complex finish. It's a natural match with any kind of salmon dish, as well as Mediterranean flavours. The winemaking is according to the Huber family 1856 wine purity standards.
This Pinot Blanc is a natural match with any kind of salmon dish, shellfish, vegetable casseroles, and Mediterranean flavours. It is drinking very well now, and we expect it to cellar gracefully until 2012.
