Deep Creek Wine Estate
2002 Chardonnay on the Shore
Information Sheet
The Deep Creek Chardonnay was grown in select vineyards in Okanagan Falls, Penticton, Peachland, Westbank and south Kelowna. In the 2002 vintage, we were able to attain optimum maturity, while retaining typical fruit.
The wine was made according to organic standards, with minimal fining and filtration, and very low use of sulphites. It is fully fermented in stainless steel, finished completely dry, and received no oak treatment. Extended aging on the lees (yeast sediment) gives the wine a full body and soft finish. The aromas have classic, refreshing pineapple, lime, ginger and toast notes.
This unoaked Chardonnay is a great match with a wide variety of foods. Seafood, poultry, pork and vegetable dishes with mild to medium spicing, as well as soft cheeses do very well alongside this wine. Try it with lobster or other shellfish, poached salmon, a pasta primavera, or crackers and Brie. It is drinking very nicely now, and we expect it to cellar until 2012.
The Huber family has established Deep Creek Wine Estate, a line of exciting wines to inspire enjoyment of good food and good company. Winemaker Tilman Hainle uses the Okanagan’s best grape varieties to create satisfying aromas and flavours that will suit any occasion. We believe that wine should give joy and pleasure.
