Acidity:
occurs naturally in wines, giving the wine its tartness.

Balance: how the wine components of fruit, acids, alcohol, tannins, sugar or oak are balanced in the wine. One component could be emphasized.

Complex:
wines with many layers of flavor that change during the tasting.

Dry wine:
has little or no noticeable sugar.

Finish:
the way flavors or textures linger or do not linger after the wine is tasted.

Full bodied:
describes a robust, intensely flavored wine with a relatively high sugar and alcohol content.

Tannins:
occur naturally in grapes and can give wine a bitter taste. Toasty: the flavor imparted in a wine aged or fermented in an oak barrel. Also described as "smokey", "vanilla", "toffee" or "caramel".
